Planning for Authentic, Integrated Learning
This resource follows an integrated learning cycle, co-planned by the classroom and resource teachers for learners in a grade 6 classroom, from its planning stages through to the final assessments. Social Studies, The Arts, and Language curriculum are combined and blended in a cross-discipline inquiry. Tasks and inquiries of depth that begin in one curriculum area often, by their very nature extend into other areas as students gain a greater understanding of Canadian identity and what it means to them.
