Dr. Susan Dion – Historical Timeline and Listening Stone Year 4
Dr. Susan Dion’s ‘Historical Primer’: An overview of post-contact relationships between First Nations people and newcomers. Drawing on her work as an Indigenous scholar and educator, Dr. Dion takes a complex history and breaks it down into a concise and tangible narrative that weaves her perspective and contrasts it to that of prevailing stories in Canadian society. She draws audiences’ attention to how ‘Prevailing stories’ play a role that impedes the teaching of history in ways that respect Indigenous experience in all its diversity, resistance, strength and hope.
