Building Success in Mathematics: A School’s Journey

This resource captures how one school built success in mathematics through collaborative learning and discourse. It features the critical role of the principal as instructional leader, as well as the importance of educators acquiring deep understanding of the math.

Through collaborative learning and discourse, a principal and her staff positively impacted their own mathematical instruction as well as the achievement and attitudes of their students. As part of their strategy, they effectively implemented the curriculum and a learning trajectory within the framework of The Five Practices. They also acquired a deep conceptual understanding of the math, which lay at the heart of their success.
